Thomas Tait
Tom Tait is active both as a brass teacher and as a trumpet performer in the Chicago area. He holds degrees in Music Education from State University College at Potsdam New York, a Master's of Trumpet Performance from the University of Louisville and has completed course work for the Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Illinois in Urbana.
Mr. Tait has performed professionally with a wide variety of artists including the Louisville Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Opera, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Sinfonia da Camera, Glen Ellyn Children's Choir, national touring companies of A Chorus Line and The Secret Garden, comedians Bob Hope and Bob Newhart, and jazz musicians Nick Brignola, Anthony Braxton, Mel Torme, Randy Brecker, John Abercrombie and Louis Bellson.
Tom currently maintains a private lesson studio of around 50 students and teaches at Oswego East High School and in the Indian Prairie School District 204, where he also directs the Waubonsie Valley High School Jazz Ensemble. His students consistently achieve the highest scores and honors in All State, ILMEA, and their respective schools. He has written a trumpet method book and is a specialist in computer music technology. His latest recording is as principal trumpet with the Concord Brass Ensemble on the GIA records label #CD-503 entitled Gaudeamus! Music for Brass with Organ and Timpani.
