Kirsten is a state certified music teacher, a church and theatre music director, professional singer, and accompanist. With a bachelors in Music Education and musical theatre minor from University of Michigan, she is well qualified to teach students of all ages and abilities. Kirsten has taught in the Fox Valley and DuPage County area for over 25 years in many capacities - both privately in her home studio of over 25 voice and piano students, and in both public and parochial school districts. She is now the Director of Music at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lombard, Illinois where she serves as organist and director of the children's choir, the St. Cecilia Singers. She also supervises 3 others choirs and the instrumental music program. As an accompanist, she has been on staff at Marmion Academy in Aurora and regularly plays for IMEA instrumental soloists. During summers, she can be found musically directing for the Bolingbrook Community Theatre, Theatre On the Hill. Most recently, she both musically directed and performed the role of "Mrs. Banks" with her children in last summer's Mary Poppins and before that, Spamalot (2014) and Fiddler on the Roof (2013). She was resident musical director of Warrenville Youngstars in the 1990's where she directed and conducted over 12 musicals including Grease, Peter Pan and South Pacific.
